FAQ:
As this exchange is called Ace Attorney Slutoween, will it be Halloween themed?
While this is a holiday fest, you are not required to request or create a fanfic or artwork based on a seasonal theme, unless you so desire. You could always nominate Halloween in the tagset if you like! But we are more focused on the sluts than the season.
What are nominations? Why do they exist?
In order for you to request a character or relationship, it needs to be part of the Ace Attorney Slutoween 2022 tagset. During the nomination stage of the exchange, this tagset is co-created by the prospective participants, who can submit relationships and freeform tags they would like to create or receive a gift for. Only tags submitted to the tagset can be used by participants during the signup stage. See the 2022 tagset here.
You may nominate freeforms for the tagset even if you are not sure if you wish to include them in your own sign-up.
How do I sign up?
Your sign-up must include at least one request and one offer. For your request, along with freeform and relationship tags, try to include a description of what you like and dislike to help a creator make a gift for you. You can include a list of tropes you like or even prompts if you wish.
Please be sure to list any Do Not Wants (DNWs) in your sign-up optional details box. A DNW is anything that you absolutely do not want to read or see because it would spoil a gift for you. This could be a kink, a character, etc. but please bear in mind that DNWs cannot be used to box your creator into producing a very specific work.
If you wish to modify or delete your sign-up, you are free to do so until sign-ups close.
How do offers work?
You must offer at least one fandom, one medium, one relationship and four freeform tags. Please try and make sure your offer matches at least one request.
When sign-ups close, matches will be generated. If no requests match your offers, the mods will contact you to see if you can offer anything else. If you do not reply within twenty-four hours, or there is nothing else you can offer, your signup will be deleted.
How does matching work?
Participants will match on the following:
- One fandom (Ace Attorney or The Great Ace Attorney)
- One medium (fanfic or fanart)
- One relationship
- One freeform tag
How do I get my assignment?
Once sign-ups close and assignments go out, no changes will be made. The assignments will be emailed to the email address associated with your AO3 account. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder.
You can also see your assignment by going to your AO3 dashboard and clicking ‘Assignments’ on the column at the left side of the screen.
How do I create my gift?
You must create one work that matches the medium, one relationship and one tag from a request your recipient has made and it must respect their DNWs. The rest, including prompts and favourite tropes, are optional details.
How do I submit my assignment?
In order to post your work, select ‘Post New Work’ in the top right-hand corner of AO3. Fill out the form as you usually would and then, under the ‘Associations’ field, tick the appropriate box for this exchange and your recipient. You may include notes but since this is an anonymous exchange please do not include links to social media. For example, links to discord, tumblr, dreamwidth, etc.
I have a question about my assignment. What should I do?
Please do not contact your recipient directly. If you have any questions about your assignment, contact the mod at elaurianbarkeep@gmail.com or on discord at ElAurianBarkeep#9808 and the mod will reach out to the recipient on your behalf.
What if I can't complete my assignment?
Please default as soon as you know you cannot complete your assignment so we can find a pinch-hitter for your recipient. To default, go to your ‘Assignments’ page on AO3, find this exchange and click ‘Default’.
What's a pinch-hit?
When a participant is defaulted or cannot be matched they will be assigned to a volunteer called a pinch hitter.
The collection will not open until all who signed-up and did not default have received at least one gift.
How do I sign up for pinch-hits?
Pinch-hits will be posted to the dreamwidth community.
To pick up a pinch-hit, comment on the post that lists the pinch-hits with your AO3 username and the pinch-hit you wish to pick up. Anyone can comment, you do not need a dreamwidth account. All comments will be screened for anonymity.
What are treats?
A treat is an extra gift created for a participant who is not your assigned recipient. You can treat whether or not you have signed up to the exchange.
There are no minimum requirements for treats but they still need to follow the recipients requested ships, tags and respect their DNWs.

When nominating, lone characters must be nominated under “Relationships” by using the format “Solo:[Character Name]”. For example, Solo:Klavier Gavin.
The freeform tags can be tropes, kinks, scenarios that relate to sex. For example, Consensual Somnophilia, Alternate Universe - BDSM or Sex Pollen - The only cure is multiple orgasms.

Fanfiction:
Participants must write a 1,000 word minimum completed fic based on the request by their recipient. Fics must adhere to the recipient's DNWs. There is no word count requirement for gifts given as treats, but they must be for a relationship and tags the recipient requested, and not include their DNWs.
Fanart:
Participants must complete a finished, original fanart piece. Your piece does not have to be coloured, but it must be a completed work and cannot be drawn on lined paper. Fanart must adhere to the recipient's DNWs. Sketches may be given as treats, but they must be for a relationship and tags the recipient requested, and not include their DNWs.
General
Do not post about your assignment in public/semi-public spaces before creator reveals.
Be respectful. Comment on your gift. Don’t be rude or derogatory about other participants.
Any DNWs in the AO3 sign-up box must be respected. That said, DNWs used to box in the creator or overly vague DNWs cannot be enforced. DNWs should also be worded in a neutral manner. No kink shaming.
